It's a great idea to use up any leftover mashed potatoes with this Duchesse potato recipe. It's a simple recipe for potato casserole and fantastic for making party potatoes ahead of time.

Tip
Use a large cake decorating tip to create beautiful fluted mounds of the potatoes before baking if you really want to go all out and make this recipe look fantastic (as in the photo above).

It will bake just fine in the casserole dish if you are more like me.


In either case, it's a terrific method for making mashed potatoes appear a little "grander" when entertaining.

It's a great idea to use up any leftover mashed potatoes with this Duchesse potato recipe. It's a simple recipe for potato casserole that makes excellent party food in advance.

a single batch of potatoes


1 well-beaten egg


14 cup melted butter


Instructions




Use leftover potatoes that have been brought to room temperature or make a batch of mashed potatoes.


Add 1 well-beaten egg to the potatoes before mashing.


Butter a glass baking dish that is square. Potatoes should be added and distributed evenly in the pan. To add interest, you can add a few peaks. Apply melted butter to the potatoes' surface.

You may pipe the potatoes into elegant rosettes like the ones seen above if you have a pastry bag or piping bag.

Bake potatoes at 375° for 30 minutes, or until they are thoroughly heated and the top is brown.

Remark: If you pipe the potatoes into small, serving-size circles, you just need to bake them for around 10 minutes.
